Description of Cottages and Property

Our cottages are quite spacious and provide all the essentials for a comfortable stay, with peace and quiet, and free use of all the recreational and sporting facilities, as well as enjoying the rural experience. The cottages are family friendly, but couples can enjoy a quiet retreat, as all of our cottages are private with their own rural aspect. Kalaru Lodge has 9 hectares with farm and native flora and fauna, complimented by the abundant native birdlife.

Eco-Friendly: we believe our property is eco-friendly for several reasons:

  1. Water is supplied from our own rainwater tanks (60,000 gallons in total) and each cottage has its own tank (water is filtered before entering each cottage)
  2. Self sufficient effluent system using modern septic tanks, natural reed beds and rowan trenches with overflow distributed to areas of native flower, farm and other vegetated areas.
  3. Careful use of property catchment for dam water which is stored and then recycled for gardens and irrigation.
  4. Well vegetated areas with native shrubs and trees, with several acres of undisturbed native trees with abundant birdlife and fauna. There are plans for further plantings of trees and native shrubs.
  5. Cottages are very well insulated and architecturally designed so that air conditioning units are not required. Energy efficient light bulbs are used throughout and power is also saved by the efficient use of gas hot water, cooking and heating, and there are no leaking taps. Power is therefore cut to a minimum and the feasibility of using solar generated power for other needs is being investigated. The pool is solar heated and the tennis lights are Environ Halide (low use of power and environmentally friendly)

Quite large with the following inclusions:

2 Bedroom Deluxe Cottages

3 available

Two can be described as fully private although they are in close proximity. Very suitable for family functions. Each cottage is on one level with sealed concrete carpark through to wheelchair access.

Very spacious with deluxe interior and with the following inclusions:

  • gas stove and cooktop
  • dishwasher and microwave
  • refrigerator
  • large bench with ample room for cooking
  • dining / lounge with TV and DVD
  • separate laundry with washing machine and dryer
  • all linen provided
  • privatebarbeque and sheltered balcony

1 room with queen bed and 1 room with 2 single beds and a trundle. Both have a rural aspect and plenty of landscaped gardens and surrounding space.

This is quite a separate and unique elevated cottage with private balcony and expansive rural views. Layout is identicle to the others with the exception of the elevation and deck. A trundle is not normally available.

Suitable for a couple or 4 persons.

A deluxe multi-purpose cottage with full disabled access throughout, built to Australian Standards AS1428. Extensive rural views over the property from the very large but private balcony.

  • large cooking area and benches
  • dishwasher and mocrowave
  • oven and gas cooktop
  • full refrigerator

1 bedroom with queen bed and ensuite, 1 large bedroom with 2 king beds, and a 3rd bedroom with 2 single beds.
